Never Good At Goodbyes

Melancholia
Deep in her eyes
Her gut detects lies
Carbon ink clouds stain the skies
Disguised as a friend
Sweet promises to never go away
Crossed fingers behind your back
Guileless dawn corrupted by light of day
Melancholia
Deep in her eyes
Her gut detects lies
I was never good at goodbyes
Detect the hopelessness in her face
Her family finds her a disgrace
She hides under the blanket of shame
The scapegoat always shoulders the blame
Melancholia
Deep in her eyes
Her gut detects lies
Unconditional love your heart denies
Run away from everything now
Forget all your earlier vows
You sold me on your story
I lay here paralyzed with despair and worry
Melancholia
Deep in her eyes
Her gut detects lies
A civilization on the brink of demise.
Someday I shall rise from the dead
Skies turn indigo blue from gray lead
The sun rises and illuminates over my head
Another lover will find his way to my bed
Melancholia
Deep in her eyes
Her gut detects lies
A baptizing rain graces us from the skies…
