Last night, I went to an informational meeting on becoming a Foster and/or Foster-Adopt parent. I met so many kind and wonderful people, and I am seriously considering helping some of the kids here in Marin. From what I learned, there are 80-100 kids in here in Marin County that are in 'the system' at any one time....and they all need love, support, and encouragement. My next step is to go through the required training. I will keep you posted as I go through this process!
Today, I read about this book, Unlikely Brothers, by John Prendergast...human rights activist and expert on Africa....and Big Brother in the Big Bros./Big Sister program. I have met him a few times, and he is my HERO. Anyway, I just ordered his book on my Kindle. I will write a 'book report' when I finish it so I can share with you what I learned.
